Firstly, I would like to say a big “Thank You!” to the author for gifting me this book in exchange for an honest review.
LOOSE CANNON took me a little while to really get into the story as the setting is different to what I am used to. This is no bad thing! If anything, it made the read more interesting.
LOOSE CANNON centres on the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) which is a privatised agency based in London who are tasked with investigating a kidnapping. Not any old kidnapping though (where would the fun be in that?!) – the victim is the daughter of the head of the London Mafia.
Joe Stone is the head investigator and putting his own feelings aside (we learn his girlfriend went missing a year ago – Joe believes this is at the hands of the same Mafia family he is investigating) in order to bring calm back to the streets of Londons East End.
This is a great debut read from Steele. This book centres more on the action of the case, so if you are looking for a standard police procedural – this is not that book. Saying that, this book is certainly enjoyable and following that cliffhanger ending – I am keen to read what is in store next for Joe and his team!
