THURSDAY QUOTABLES is a weekly book meme hosted by the lovely Book Shelf Fantasies
This weekly feature is the place to highlight a great quote, line or passage discovered during your reading each week. Whether it’s something funny, startling, gut-wrenching, or just beautifully written, THURSDAY QUOTABLES is where my favourite lines of the week will be…and you’re invited to join in.
Head over to Book Shelf Fantasies for further info on how to join in!
THE INFORMANT BY SUSAN WILKINS (NOVEMBER 2014, PAN MACMILLAN)
“Kaz watched him sipping his beer. No one could deny he exuded a confident that was attractive, he still had charm to burn just like little Joey. She’d watched him with Marko and Leysa, they were totally under his spell. But when he wasn’t performing, rolling out the spiel and keeping everyone entertained, there was an edge to him, an underlying hardness.
There was only the occasional glimpse of it, but when he said ‘I run a very tight ship’ she certainly got a whiff of it. She knew it was there. And then there was his temper. It was in a fit of temper that he’d killed Natalie’s boyfriend and Kaz knew, even though she wanted to deny it, that Jez Harris wasn’t his only victim.”
I cannot go on about this book enough! THE INFORMANT came to me in the form of a birthday gift last year and after reading the blurb – I was instantly drawn in.
Until next week, keep reading on!
