Welcome to my stop on this Blog Tour for the release of THE CAMERA LIES by AB Morgan.

I would like to say that it is truly my pleasure to be invited onto this blog tour! Particular thanks to Sarah Hardy, Bloodhound Books and of course the lovely Alison Morgan who gifted me an early copy of THE CAMERA LIES. I am forever grateful and promise that the review below is 100% honest and of my own views.

To kick off, we have the “blurb” for the book;

Konrad Neale is a television presenter. His waning career has been given a new lease of life since he took on a series of hard-hitting documentaries that investigate miscarriages of justice.

Matthew Hawley has been convicted of the brutal murder of his wealthy attractive wife Helena. However, he has no memory of the events and insists he is not responsible for willingly killing her.

When Konrad interviews Matthew in prison, he explores the details of the murder and the possible motives behind it. But all is not as it seems.

Did Matthew murder his wife?

Soon the search is on to identify who else might be involved in the murder of Helena and Konrad is about to learn that sometimes the camera lies.

So, want to know what I thought

On the back of the success of shows like MAKING OF A MURDERER and podcasts like SERIAL – it appears that now more than ever, we are fascinated by real crime stories. Only this past week has there been another new TV doco following people on death row  in America.

This success has now for me spilled over into the fiction world. SIX STORIES was the breakthrough novel for me that took the real crime docoumentary style and turned it into a breathtaking work of fiction. Followed soon after by THE INNOCENT WIFE, a debut novel which featured a woman who forged a relationship with a prisoner based on their television documentary series.

So when I was approached to read THE CAMERA LIES – I jumped at the chance as this takes the world of real crime documentaries, but adds that little ‘something extra’ into the mix, giving it an edge and something different to what the prvious novels gave me. The story was paced perfectly and for me, there was nothing rushed or forced. Everything happened at the right time and how it should have done. Nothing for me was over egged to give it that shock factor. The words along gave that uncomfortable feeling.

Whilst I started this story starts thinking I knew what I was getting, I was soon slapped with the ‘don’t be silly Sooz…you know there’s more to this story’ stick and then the real fun begins! Without wanting to give any of the plot away, what I can tell you is that the characters Alison has created, especially the female characters, are an absolute joy to read!

I would cetainly love to see THE CAMERA LIES  bought to the small screen, It has everything you want to make a great crime drama series! Fingers crossed this happens!

About AB Morgan;

unnamed(1)

Alison Morgan started writing a couple of years ago to address that niggling question: could she write a book? The answer was a simple yes. She’s had to retire from the NHS a little earlier than planned, but has discovered a new passion. Writing.

Her debut novel, A Justifiable Madness, was published by Bloodhound Books in September 2017 attracting great reviews for its refreshing premise and dark humour. With two further novels being published at the beginning of 2018, it seems Alison has a promising future as an author. Divine Poison is the second novel to feature Monica Morris, a mental health nurse, as the main protagonist in this crime mystery, but there are no plans for a series.

Alison’s third suspense novel, The Camera Lies, steps away from the field of nursing and into the world of real crime documentary films.

Alison lives with her husband Andy and their dog Sadie, in a small village north of Bedford. She’s not the type to let life get in the way of adventure and so, always up for the next challenge, she decided to have a proper midlife crisis and learn to ride a motorbike.

In August she passed, first time. Her husband was impressed until she swung her leg over his prized Triumph and roared off with a big grin on her face. ‘Research for the next book,’ she cried. The fourth book is under construction and does indeed feature motorbikes.

You can buy THE CAMERA LIES from the following booksellers (however, there are MANY more!!)
