#BlogTour| #BookReview | #IncidentReport | THE OWL ALWAYS HUNTS AT NIGHT (Munch & Kruger #2) by Samuel Bjork (February 8th 2018, Transworld Books @TransworldBooks)

Welcome to my stop on this Blog Tour for the release of THE OWL ALWAYS HUNTS AT NIGHT which is the second in the Munch & Kruger series by Samuel Bjork.

I would like to say that it is truly my pleasure to be invited onto this blog tour! Particular thanks to Tom Hill, Transworld Books and of course Samuel Bjork who gifted me an early copy of THE OWL ALWAYS HUNTS AT NIGHT. I am forever grateful and promise that the review below is 100% honest and of my own views.

To kick off, we have the “blurb” for the book;

When a young woman is found dead, the police are quick to respond. But what they find at the scene is unexpected. The body is posed, the scene laboriously set. And there is almost no forensic evidence to be found.

Detective Mia Krüger has been signed off work pending psychological assessment. But her boss has less regard for the rules than he should. Desperate to get Mia back in the office, Holger Munch offers her an unofficial deal.

But the usually brilliant Mia is struggling and the team are unable to close the case. Until a young hacker uncovers something that forces the team to confront the scope of the murderer’s plans and face the possibility that he may already be on the hunt for a second victim.

So, want to know what I thought?;

Unfortunately, I didn’t get chance to read I’M TRAVELLING ALONE before the release of the second installment 😦 but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy THE OWL ALWAYS HUNTS AT NIGHT as a standalone. For me, there was enough back story included that we got a sense of the relationship between Mia and Holger, without bogging us down with too much detail.

Pacing is something this novel perfected. It was fast enough to keep me on the edge of my seat and eager to know what happened next. THE OWL… is a dark and twisted tale that delves into the minds of those that are capable of the most deplorable acts.

What this book gave me in buckets were intriguing characters. Each one battling their own issues/demons. It’s not over the top, but enough to create a unique dynamic within the team. It’s something that only authors who write Nordic Noir seem to get right almost every time. A team that works hard and suffers together.

I’m looking forward to reading where the road leads now for Munch and Kruger. Something tells me that there story isn’t over yet!
