The classic, bestselling account of the infamous Kray twins which will be brought to the main screen this autumn as Legend, a film directed by Academy Award winner Brian Helgeland and starring Tom Hardy. Also published as ‘The Profession of Violence’.

Reggie and Ronnie Kray ruled London’s gangland during the 60s with a ruthlessness and viciousness that shocks even now. Building an empire of organised crime that has never been matched, the brothers swindled, extorted and terrorised – while enjoying a glittering celebrity status at the heart of the swinging 60s scene, until their downfall and imprisonment for life.

No point in beating around the bush here. I watched the movie LEGEND recently with that there Tom Hardy portraying both the Kray twins (Reggie and Ronnie for those who have ZERO clue!) and I bloody LOVED it! Then came that annoying niggle afterwards of wanting to learn more about the infamous twins.

Nearly every one in Britain has heard of the Krays. They may not know too much, but they know the basics. Two brothers (twins!) who ruled London in the 1960s with a ruthless flair of business of violence, instilling a fear in all of those they came into contact with. When it comes to details, some folk know and some folk don’t. This is where John Pearson’s book; THE PROFESSION OF VIOLENCE comes in.

This book takes us right back to the beginning of the twins story – with their parents and ends with their sentencing in the late 1960’s which will see them spend the rest of their lives spent at Her Majesty’s pleasure!

I found this book fascinating from the first pages – there is so much to learn about the pair that you sometimes feel 300+ pages cannot do justice. There will be so many stories that weren’t included in this book that will get me reaching for the next tale! In places, I found myself doubting whether certain things took place, but then they are so over the top that you believe it! John really had a privilege in bringing this story to the public. The scandal surrounding the initial release of this book makes for a more interesting read and thankfully as time passes and certain figures are no longer with us, more of their story has been included.

I think it’s time to watch the film again……
