BEAUTIFUL DISASTER (Beautiful #1) by Jamie McGuire
Published; July 12th 2012, Atria Books

The new Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate number of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance from the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University’s Walking One-Night Stand.

Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby needs—and wants—to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days as the ultimate college campus charmer. Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his appeal, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’s apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match.

You know when everybody recommends a book because they loved it so much but your too scared to pick it up in case you hate it? That’s how I felt about BEAUTIFUL DISASTER. I had seen so many good things about it I just kept wondering if it would live up to the hype but it 100% lived up to it and even exceeded it.

You know when you pick up a book and instantly know you will love after reading just a few pages? That’s what I did. BEAUTIFUL DISASTER ticked all the boxes for me.

I loved the troubled bad boy Travis Maddox. You melt the second we meet him and his attraction just grows. Throughout the book we see both his insecure, sweet side as well as the angry, fierce, don’t mess with me or anyone I love side but despite the anger we still adore him.

Our heroine Abby was very sweet and probably a little innocent. I will be honest, there were times she frustrated the hell out of me and I just wanted to shake some sense into her. I almost felt like some of the naivety was an act.

This is absolutely a ‘Will they? Won’t they?’ story with exactly the kind of ending you know is coming the whole way through. The difference with this story is that it doesn’t feel like the same old same old. It feels new and refreshing.

A lot happens so the story never gets boring and it certainly kept me turning the pages the whole time! I was eager to discover what challenges our couple had yet to face and how they overcome them.

Although this is the 1st in a series I am satisfied with the ending and best of all there is NO CLIFFHANGER! YAY!

I am intrigued to know what else is in store for Travis and Abby with the rest of the series and if it is possible to fall in love with Travis just a little bit more ❤
