Her father is The King of England.

She is The Controversial Princess.

Regarded as down to earth by the press and rebellious by The King, Princess Adeline refuses to bow to the royal expectations her title carries. She knows better than anyone that the united front of the royal family is nothing but smoke and mirrors – lies and secrets masked by power and privilege. She wants no part of it, and she will never surrender to The King’s demand to marry a man she does not love. But despite Adeline’s determination to retain her free will, she remains deeply unfulfilled, feeling caged and suffocated.

That is until she meets Josh Jameson. Drawn in by his confidence, Adeline is soon captivated by the scandalously sexy American actor. His ability to penetrate her defences overwhelms her – his touch is pure fire, and his allure overpowering. Nothing has ever made her feel so alive in a world where she’s otherwise slowly drowning. However, while Josh may be Hollywood royalty, he’s not actual royalty, and Adeline knows The King and his advisors will do everything in their power to keep them apart.

But Josh Jameson becomes the princess’s ultimate vice.

And although she bows to no one, she bows to him.

What do you do when a favourite author releases a new book? You make sure you buy a copy as soon as possible and devour it within a week. That’s what happens when I got hold of the new novel by Jodi Ellen Malpas and what a story.

Here we go on a whirlwind of a journey with our lead characters, the beautiful rebellious Adeline and the handsome, defiant Josh. A couple that due to their circumstances shouldn’t belong together but it is perfectly clear from their first encounter that they’re destined for each other. Never before has the British (albeit fictional variety) Monarchy been so delicious to read about. This is a woman who is fighting for everything, made stronger by the man beside her.

In true JEM fashion the relationship speeds ahead at a hundred miles an hour, something I’ve come to expect from this author, but also something she creates so beautifully. A slow burn isn’t required, you want it all from this unlikely couple and JEM delivers.

For me this is an author who can do no wrong, I go into every book unbiased even with my favourite authors but it is apparent that JEM will never fail to deliver a delicious couple. The leading lady is a strong independent woman, the ultimate English rose and with a sass that every JEM woman possesses. With this in mind it is only right that she has a leading man as strong as her, someone who can handle the sass and match her wit. Once again we have this here and there is something highly attractive with an assertive man.

JEM has a formula that more than works, it takes the readers into the heart of the story, gets you hooked after turning the first page. In a genre where we have an abundance of alpha men and their alpha women, here is an author who is head and shoulders above the rest.

I cannot wait to read the follow up to The Controversial Princess in August and am eager to see what the amazing imagination of such a talented writer will create for us next.
