JUDGMENT ROAD by Christine Feehan is a very different novel to what I am used to, gone is the mysterious Carpathian male and his lifemate, replaced by a man just as deadly and a woman just as feisty.
We’re brought into a world of bikers, a club that is more than a group of bikers and bad boys this is a family. One unit of people who have survived horrors we cannot even begin to fathom. In true Feehan style we fall deeply in love with our lead characters, praying with every turn of the page that they make things work. That the horrors of the past won’t tear apart a love built on strength. In a world of utter cruelty and hopelessness Feehan gives our characters hope. In each other they truly find home. Amongst the angst, the terror and violence there is a softness, a calmness and love that far outshines the bad.
I wasn’t sure what to think of my favourite author moving away from the sexy alpha Carpathians that I so love but once again I was not disappointed. Sure these are human men and women, a couple who can be killed like normal folk but it is this humanity that makes them more appealing. The fragile nature of human life makes it all the more potent that this couple overcome the past, that they build a future and enjoy it. Feehan is a phenomenal writer, a lady who knows her subject matter, knows her boundaries and just how far to push both.
Readers are captivated by the characters this author creates, eager to read more and to always have them live amongst all the other fictional worlds around us. These characters might have a shorter lifespan than my favourite Carpathians but they’re just as powerful and potent as their counterparts.
I cannot wait to read more of the JUDGMENT ROAD world Feehan has created and hope to all that I can we see more of the beautiful characters we’ve only glimpsed in this story.
