War almost destroyed them, but they survived thanks to their brother in arms Declan.

Coming home wasn’t as sweet as they’d hoped, lives had moved on without them. For one it was all too much.

United by grief and angered by injustice the Wounded Heroes vow to always be there for each other.

Little do they know that’s going to come sooner rather than later.

After physically stalking Ava for months now (in York, Bradford and Oxford!) it was time for me to read DECLAN. The first book in the Wounded Heroes series.

I was certainly not disappointed! This book grabbed me from the first page and devoured the lot in less than 24 hours!

DECLAN is told from dual POV, but predominantly Declan. We learn about his time in the Australian SAS regiment, his time overseas and how it had a massive impact on not only his team, but himself too. Declan is suffering with PTSD and is written with such care and grace. Ava did a great job in not glamorising the condition!

Following a tragic incident with one of his former Army buddies, Declan joins Cam (of the same unit) on a motorbike ride across Australia to visit a relative in a small town in Victoria. Once there, Declan tries to integrate himself into small town living. What he didn’t bank on was striking up a relationship with Holly, the daughter of Severed MC’s President.

Declan and Holly’s relationship felt uncomplicated and was believable, given the background to the pair. It’s rare for me to read a romance book these days where our leading chap takes our lady on a date/s before taking that next step!

For me, there is enough romance, action and drama to satisfy any bookworm and as DECLAN was left on a cliffhanger, I cannot wait to read CAM and see where the story takes us next!
