This book was recommended to me by a friend of mine who has been raving about Jodi’s books for so long so when I saw it in the library I decided it was time to give it a go.
My friend did not steer me wrong. From the second I read the author’s note at the start I was hooked and so intrigued to see what was actually Forbidden.
I am glad that nothing is given away until you are already hooked. I think if I had known the subject matter beforehand I probably wouldn’t have started it but by the time the discovery was made I was already invested in the story and characters to stop.
The characters are very likeable. Annie is shown to be a strong, independent, hardworking woman who most women would aspire to be. Jack is a little less likeable especially when we find out why he’s forbidden but as the story develops he is forgiven and you can’t help but lose your heart to him.
There were a few points during the book that I found myself frustrated with both Jack and Annie but Jodi writes in such a way that those feelings don’t last long before your back to enjoying the story again.
I found myself completely engrossed in Jack and Annie’s story and it’s completely different to the predictable romance novels I usually read. I think this has a slight predictablity about it but not enough to take anything away from the enjoyment.
I can’t say too much in the review because I want people to go in as blind as I was because it really adds that extra something so I will finish by saying….just read it!
