WANT YOU DEAD (Roy Grace #10) by Peter James

IF HE CAN’T HAVE HER, THEN NOBODY CAN . . .
Virtual romance becomes a terrifying obsession in Want You Dead . . .
Single girl, 33, redhead and smouldering, love life that’s crashed and burned. Seeks new flame to rekindle her fire. Fun, friendship and—who knows—more maybe?
In Peter James’ Want You Dead, thirty-year old Red Cameron meets handsome, charming and rich thirty-five year old Bryce Laurent through an online dating agency, and is instantly attracted to him. But as their love blossoms, the truth about his past begins to emerge, and with it his dark side. Everything he has told Red about himself turns out to be a tissue of lies, and her infatuation with him gradually turns to terror.
Within a year, and under police protection, she evicts him from her flat and her life. But far from being over, her nightmare is only just beginning. For Bryce is obsessed and besotted with her. He intends to destroy, by fire, everything and everyone she has ever known and loved—and then her, too. It’s up to Detective Superintendent Roy Grace to stop him before it’s too late…
Now onto book 10. I am sure I have said this for the last 4 books but I am always surprised how Peter always seems to make the Roy Grace series feel so refreshing.
This book is based on a stalker from a relationship that started on an online dating service. The people involved had a very good relationship until Red found out some things about Bryce that changed everything and now Bryce is out to ensure Red is never happy again.
As Roy prepares for his upcoming wedding to Cleo he is put as lead investigator on the case so as you can imagine that throws a spanner in the works. As well as this we also discover more about Sandy and I feel it won’t be too many more books before things start to happen with that side of the story.
Obviously our favourite side characters are back in force but just as we begin to feel happiness might be on the cards for 2 unlikely characters something truly devastating happens and the story is taken to a whole new level. One thing about these books is Peter isn’t afraid to involve some of the well known characters in big parts of the story line.
AS always Peter writes in such a way that you do not want to stop turning the pages. I was completely engrossed in this book and just needed to find out what was going to happen. I like how the stories always end but there is always a little cliff hanger which means you are going to have to read the next book to discover where that line will go.
I cannot wait to dive into book 11 and am already expecting to be on the edge of my seat for the entire ride.
