MORE THAN WORDS by Mia Sheridan
Published; June 12th 2018, Forever Romance

The moment she met Callen Hayes, eleven-year-old Jessica Creswell knew he was a broken prince. Her prince. They became each other’s refuge, a safe and magical place far from their troubled lives. Until the day Callen kissed herJessica’s first real, dreamy kiss—and then disappeared from her life without a word.

Years later, everyone knows who Callen Hayes is. Famous composer. Infamous bad boy. What no one knows is that Callen’s music is now locked deep inside, trapped behind his own inner demons. It’s only when he withdraws to France to drink his way through the darkness that Callen stumbles into the one person who makes the music return. Jessica. His Jessie. And she still tastes of fresh, sweet innocence . . . even as she sets his blood on fire.

But they don’t belong in each other’s worlds anymore. There are too many mistakes. Too many secrets. Too many lies. All they have is that instinctive longing, that need—and something that looks dangerously like love.

I love a book that really gets you hooked and you can’t turn the pages fast enough. That was most definitely the case with More Than Words by Mia Sheridan.

I am a huge fan of Mia’s work and none of her books ever disappoint despite mostly having a similar premise. Usually second chance romances with male leads that are deeply troubled the characters are so well written that you find yourself falling in love with each and every one. Callen Hayes was no exception as he tries to forget his past with girls and booze. When he runs into Jess, a familiar figure from his childhood, she manages to push past the wall Callen has erected around himself and integrate herself into his heart. Jess is also a very likeable character although a little sensitive, she has a strong personality and I couldn’t help but like her.

As well as our hero and heroine Mia writes the best best friends as we discover when we meet Nick. The one person that has stood beside Callen throughout everything he is attempting to deal with. I feel like we don’t see enough of Nick and would love to discover more about him and how he has ended up where he is. Maybe Mia could use him as a main character in another book, I certainly feel he is as loveable as Callen.

I found this story very easy to read and discovered myself engrossed in how Callen and Jess find their way back to each other without even realising it. I couldn’t stop turning the pages. I was also eager to find out more about Adelaide’s story, a love story within a love story, and liked how Mia integrated in this into the main story.

Set in France, Mia writes about the country very beautiful and descriptively. I certainly pictured each place very well and felt like I was there in the midst of it all. Which was great as I have never been to France but finished the story wishing I could be there.

Although the ending was very predictable I still found myself finishing with a big smile and a feeling of being very satisfied. Mia certainly re enforced why I am a huge fan and I am looking forward to discovering more of her books.
