#BlogBlitz | #BlogTour | #BookReview | MY BEST MISTAKE (My Best Series #1) by Carole Wolfe @CaroleW30064418 (6th June 2019, Indie Published #IndieAuthor @BOTBSPublicity)

Welcome!! This is our stop on this Blog Blitz Tour for MY BEST MISTAKE, the first novel in the My Best Series by the wonderful Carole Wolfe.

I would firstly like to say a rather big thank you to the amazing bobby dazzler that is Sarah Hardy @ BookOnTheBrightSide and of course the awesome Carole Wolfe who gifted me an early copy of MY BEST MISTAKE. I am forever grateful and promise that the review below is 100% honest and of my own views.

To kick off, we have the “blurb” for the book;

A lawsuit, an ex-husband, and a hotel full of men. Just another crazy day in the life of a single mom…

Tasha Gerome tries to find the funny side of her everyday disasters. It’s just about the only thing that gets the single mother of twins through her chaotic life. Well, that and a comfy pair of piggy slippers. But not everyone appreciates her brand of humor…

Her deadbeat ex-husband certainly doesn’t get her jokes as he returns to town to bother her and the twins. A famous doctor threatens her with legal action over a misunderstanding. And her mother is more concerned with Tasha’s single status than her humor, dragging her kicking and screaming back into the dating game…

One thing is for certain. Fixing her legal troubles, getting rid of her ex, and finding a new man will take a whole lot of laughter… and a little help from her family…

My Best Mistake is a down-to-earth women’s fiction novel that celebrates a single mother’s courage and comedy. If you like sweet romance, snarky humor, and characters who tell it like it is, then you’ll love Carole Wolfe’s hilarious tale.

So, you want to know what I thought??

I was asked to review My Best Mistake as part of the blog tour and thought it sounded like something I would enjoy and I wasn’t disappointed.
Tasha’s life is a mess. Her house is so much of a mess the housekeeper doesn’t even want to hang around. The story starts off with her receiving a letter from her lawyer regarding a cease and desist which she believes has come from her ex husband but has actually come from the couple’s fertility doctor.

As we progress we find out that Tasha has won the lottery and is a multi millionaire and despite having to pay her husband out as part of their divorce settlement, Doug keeps crawling back for more but has no interest in their twin children, Libby and Blake, well more so Libby as he blames the fertility doctor for the fact that she is a girl.

Tasha has to swollow her pride and ask her lawyer sister for help. Whilst visiting the office she runs into her ex brother in law Brad and they rediscover a friendship that was never allowed to grow. As tensions between Tasha and Sara slowly begin to fade, Tasha begins to discover who she is as an individual and things with Doug don’t seem to be such a big burden.

I really enjoyed this book. Definitely a chick lit book (for want of a better description) about a woman who has forgotten who she is and I loved going on the journey of self discovery that Tasha partakes on. I loved all the little twists and turns that the book offered as it developed and found most of the characters relatable and likeable except of course Doug who seems to be so arrogant and up himself that I could have punched him several times over. I also loved how Tasha found a support network who have always been there but she has never allowed herself to rely on.

It was nice to read about a lottery winner but the story not all be about money, in fact the only time it’s really mentioned is in reference to Doug otherwise Tasha just seems to be a normal stay at home Mum trying to juggle lots of balls.

I feel like some of the characters can be further developed so was thrilled to learn that there is another book in the series about Sara. There definitely seems to be more to her story and I am looking forward to reading it in the future.

The story was really well written and I found it very easy to read and soon found myself flying through the pages. I would highly recommend this to people looking for a quick, chick lit kind of story that they can easily lose themselves in and don’t need to think too much about.

I’m sure Carole Wolfe is going to be an author I will read more of.
