It’s why she won’t let the ruggedly handsome bodyguard get too close. But their chemistry is undeniable, and Hannah quickly finds herself caught up in a whirlwind romance with Ryan. He is peace personified, a balm to her battered soul. Yet the gorgeous, captivating man who has swept Hannah off her feet doesn’t even know who she really is. Review:
As you would expect from a Jodi Ellen Malpas novel, this is a rollercoaster of emotions, one that will leave you breathless.
We meet our characters at a time if personal change, where they’re taking life into their own hands and making the best of it. I read this at a time that for me, on a personal level was also taking my life into my own hands. Preparing to take a huge risk in my career, reading Hannah and Ryan’s story only emphasised the importance of following your own heart. Here are two beautiful characters, both physically and spiritually, who draw you into their own little paradise.
Whilst they create a haven for each other, JEM has done just that for her readers. Letting us take a nose dive into her vivid and brilliant imagination, so that we can explore these relationships without even leaving the house. It is the love she has as a writer for these characters that draws you, that wraps you up in their bubble and makes it so you never want to leave.
I laughed, I cried, I swooned and I fell hard for these characters. And not just Ryan and Hannah but the other characters as well. Because one of the things I love about JEM is that she knows how to create the best side characters, the funny roommate and quirky neighbour. No matter what happens in one of her novels, it is the characters that compel me the most.
I loved getting to know Ryan and Hannah, the dual narrative of the novel working very well at balancing the story out. Hearing both sides of the story, witnessing their descent into the never ending world of JEM was pure selfish indulgence. Because reading this book, at time when your personal world feels in chaos, was the perfect anchor in the storm. An escape from the stresses of everyday and getting lost in the “wonderland” that JEM creates.
I cannot wait to add the paperback to my JEM shelf on my bookcase, it is the perfect addition.
