Never has a quote been so relevant to EVERY book worm around the globe (and further!). SO many books, but so little time! The same can also be said for book bloggers. We read that many books so we can share them with our audience, but we find ourselves short of time to write all our thoughts down in a comprehensive review.
This brings us nicely to ‘Mini Review Monday’. A place where, to compliment our current content, we can share with you some of our initial thoughts on books we have been reading over the last week.
The Laughing Corpse (Anita Blake #2) – Laurell K Hamilton
Harold Gaynor offers Anita Blake a million dollars to raise a 300-year-old zombie. Knowing it means a human sacrifice will be necessary, Anita turns him down. But when dead bodies start turning up, she realizes that someone else has raised Harold’s zombie–and that the zombie is a killer. Anita pits her power against the zombie and the voodoo priestess who controls it.
In The Laughing Corpse Anita will learn that there are some secrets better left buried-and some people better off dead…
This is book 2 in the Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series, and in this
story Anita is trying to discover what is murdering random people and
I found I was hooked by the book quickly as book 1 had introduced me
to Anita and so we could progress quickly into the thick of the plot.
Delving into the animator side of her life, discovering what tasks are
involved being an Animator. We see more of her character emerging and
despite only being petite knows her own mind and can and will stand up
for herself despite having bigger opponents.
I do not want to give too in depth a review and give away too much of
the story, but needless to say if you want a good supernatural story
and don’t mind gore I can definitely recommend the start of this
Mr Temptation – Rachael Stewart
Businesswoman Zara Anders always keeps it professional at work—until she meets sexy billionaire Daniel. But their scorching affair is threatened when Zara learns Daniel’s secret… Will his racy business proposal tempt her back to the bedroom?
After a messy breakup with an unfaithful ex, Zara Anders swears off men, vowing to focus on her career running an estate agency for the elite. And then she meets Swedish billionaire Daniel Lazenby: strong, successful and sexually magnetic. Just the kind of man she should avoid.
Daniel is helping his sister buy a house, and Zara finds him impossible to resist. Before long, the pair embark on a passionate fling, all the racier for its secrecy. When Zara discovers the truth about Daniel’s womanizing ways, she’s furious. She wants to end their affair immediately, knowing she’ll only get hurt otherwise. But Daniel isn’t going down without a fight. He hires Zara himself. He wants two houses—and a shot at proving to Zara that their red-hot chemistry is worth fighting for.
Zara knows the deal might break her heart, but the business is too tempting to turn down…and the out-of-office thrills are an electrifying bonus!
Sexy. Passionate. Bold. Discover Harlequin Dare, a new line of fun, edgy and sexually explicit romances for the fearless female.
This was my second story by Rachael Stewart and does not disappoint.
Mr Temptation, AKA Daniel Lazenby is a playboy by his own admission.
He does not want a relationship, is quite happy having flings and
finding a new woman when he is bored. That is until he meets Zara.
Zara after having a bad breakup is an estate agent who has sworn off
men to concentrate on growing her business. She meets Daniel whilst
helping his sister find a new property. Despite Daniel being
everything she should avoid, can she resist his charms?
This was a hot novel where you could feel the chemistry from the pages
as you read. I loved both Daniel and Zara’s characters, they both knew
what they wanted and how they were going to get it, even if their
goals contradicted each other.
I do think I need to change my job and become an Estate Agent!
