I KNEW YOU WERE TROUBLE (Jessie Jefferson #2) by Paige Toon
Published; July 30th 2015, Simon & Schuster UK

Life as the undercover daughter of a rock god isn’t going to be easy.

How will Jessie adjust to her old boring life again after spending her summer living it up with her dad in LA? With tough decisions ahead (and not just choosing between two hot boys), can she cope juggling her two very different lives?

Summer may be over, but Jessie’s story is just beginning…

Oh those teenage years! I am sure we all went through them! Who fancies who? Who can keep a secret?

Reading about Jessie reminded me of being at school and all the craziness that goes with it. Ok, so i don’t have a rock god for a father nor did I have to worry about kidnap plots or paparazzi but never understanding boys I get completely.

I KNEW YOU WERE TROUBLE is well written and easy to read. It’s a Young Adult novel and so the writing style is aimed at a younger audience but I didn’t mind that, in fact I think it added to the enjoyment for me. I didn’t have to think too hard and could just enjoy the story for what it was.

Jessie is struggling with her new life and the security that goes with it. As the paparazzi find out about Johnny’s daughter Jessie has to decide who she can trust and when she finds who she can’t her life is turned upside down. Being rushed to L.A. so her father can keep her safe she feels stuck between her new life and the ties to her old life. As Jessie tries to figure out her new life we are taken through drama and angst.

I liked how Jessie isn’t written as a perfect girl and doesn’t have the easiest life. She struggles with homesickness and anxiety as she has to adjust to being away from all that she knows. Jessie makes mistakes like all people and I think this makes her easy to connect to.

There are not many characters to dislike in this book, all the people seem to be struggling with their own battles and internal struggles.

I really enjoyed this book and found it light hearted and easy to read. There is not too much depth but I think that adds to the enjoyment. Don’t expect much and I think you will easily lose yourself in these pages.
