#LettersFromTheHeart | #BookReview | FIVE YEARS FROM NOW by Paige Toon @PaigeToonAuthor (17th May 2018, Simon & Schuster UK @simonschusterUK)

What if you met the right person at the wrong time?

Nell and Van meet as children when their parents fall in love, but soon they are forced worlds apart.

Five years later, they find each other.  Their bond is rekindled and new feelings take hold, but once again they must separate.

For the next two decades, fate brings Nell and Van together every five years, as life and circumstance continue to divide them. Will they ever find true happiness? And will it be together?

‘One day, maybe five years from now, you’ll look back and understand why this happened…’

My first 5 star read of the year and boy did this book deserve it. I was hooked from the first page and just couldn’t stop turning the pages until I got to the end.

Starting at the age of 40 and then going back to age 5 when Nell and Van meet when their parents become a couple the story jumps every 5 years to tragedy pulling them apart before they meet again and so on.

Set in the beautiful Cornish setting which Paige does an amazing job of bringing alive and really makes you want to visit, this story has it all. From laughter to heartbreak this book takes you on an emotional roller coaster that you never want to get off.

I was constantly on the edge of my seat and just when I thought I knew what was going to happen Paige would completely change direction. It was so refreshing to read a book that was unpredictable and kept me guessing.

There are times throughout the book you really want to bang Nell and Van’s heads together and shake Geoff to open his eyes but overall the characters are lovable and you can’t help but smile at the nervousness and shyness they convey. There are a lot of characters in this book that I would LOVE to hear more of and I hope Paige develops their stories in the future.

The only disappointment for me is that there is no link to previous books like I have come to expect from Paige but it was a tiny drop in the ocean compared to the love I have for this book.

Paige just re affirmed herself as one of my favourite authors! Already excited to see what she comes up with next. LOVE LOVE LOVE her!!

I KNEW YOU WERE TROUBLE (Jessie Jefferson #2) by Paige Toon
Published; July 30th 2015, Simon & Schuster UK

Life as the undercover daughter of a rock god isn’t going to be easy.

How will Jessie adjust to her old boring life again after spending her summer living it up with her dad in LA? With tough decisions ahead (and not just choosing between two hot boys), can she cope juggling her two very different lives?

Summer may be over, but Jessie’s story is just beginning…

Oh those teenage years! I am sure we all went through them! Who fancies who? Who can keep a secret?

Reading about Jessie reminded me of being at school and all the craziness that goes with it. Ok, so i don’t have a rock god for a father nor did I have to worry about kidnap plots or paparazzi but never understanding boys I get completely.

I KNEW YOU WERE TROUBLE is well written and easy to read. It’s a Young Adult novel and so the writing style is aimed at a younger audience but I didn’t mind that, in fact I think it added to the enjoyment for me. I didn’t have to think too hard and could just enjoy the story for what it was.

Jessie is struggling with her new life and the security that goes with it. As the paparazzi find out about Johnny’s daughter Jessie has to decide who she can trust and when she finds who she can’t her life is turned upside down. Being rushed to L.A. so her father can keep her safe she feels stuck between her new life and the ties to her old life. As Jessie tries to figure out her new life we are taken through drama and angst.

I liked how Jessie isn’t written as a perfect girl and doesn’t have the easiest life. She struggles with homesickness and anxiety as she has to adjust to being away from all that she knows. Jessie makes mistakes like all people and I think this makes her easy to connect to.

There are not many characters to dislike in this book, all the people seem to be struggling with their own battles and internal struggles.

I really enjoyed this book and found it light hearted and easy to read. There is not too much depth but I think that adds to the enjoyment. Don’t expect much and I think you will easily lose yourself in these pages.

#LettersFromTheHeart | #BookReview | THE ACCIDENTAL LIFE OF JESSIE JEFFERSON (Jessie Jefferson #1) by Paige Toon @PaigeToonAuthor (30th January 2014, Simon Schuster @simonschusterUK)

Published; January 30th 2014, Simon & Schuster UK

Meet Jessie, the daughter of Johnny Jefferson, as featured in Johnny Be Good and Baby Be Mine…

My fifteenth birthday was the worst day of my life, and it’s inconceivable to think that any single day in my future will ever be as bad. My mum was killed in a freak accident on her way to pick up my cake. Even when there was still no sign of her after two hours later, and my friends started to arrive at our house, it never occurred to me that she wouldn’t be coming back.

That was six months ago. My mum died without telling me who my real dad was. And for a while I hated her for it. I thought she’s taken the secret of my father’s identity with her forever. But she didn’t. Holy hell, she didn’t.

Because three weeks ago I found out the truth. And I’m still reeling from the shock of it. My dad is none other than Johnny Jefferson, mega famous rock star and one-time serial womaniser. And now I’m on my way to LA to meet him and his family.

My tiny little world has just got a whole lot bigger…

Paige Toon is always a favourite of mine but when an author steps away from their usual style and releases something else it always makes me a bit weary but I had absolutely no need to be.

I would recommend that you read the three books in the Johnny Jefferson series first as this contains Johnny & Meg and although you don’t need to know their story it will help to understand a bit better if you do.

THE ACCIDENTAL LIFE… is Paige’s first attempt at young adult and although you can tell it is aimed at younger readers it didn’t take any of the enjoyment out of it for me, in fact I enjoyed that it was so easy to read and it left me feeling really warm and cute inside.

Cute is a good way to describe this story. I loved being back with Johnny and Meg and seeing how happy they are and although Jessie is a shock they soon embrace her into their fold.

The story doesn’t end in a cliffhanger but there is definitely more to Jessie’s story and with two more installments already released we don’t have to wait to find out what else life has in store for Jessie.

A proper feel good heart warming story that leaves you feeling all fuzzy inside.

#LettersFromTheHeart | #BookReview | #TheLastPieceOfMyHeart by Paige Toon @ccgibbs (May 18th 2017, Simon & Schuster UK @simonschusterUK)

“Meet Bridget, a successful travel journalist with ambitions to turn her quirky relationship blog into a novel. But, after numerous rejections from publishers, she accepts an alternative proposition: Nicole Dupre died leaving behind a bestselling novel and an incomplete sequel, and the family need someone to finish it.

Bridget is just thankful to have her foot in the publishing door. But as she gets to know Nicole’s grieving family, and the woman behind the writing, Bridget’s priorities begin to change …”

In my eyes Paige can do no wrong. Every single book I pick up that she has written has me hooked from the first page and Last Piece of My Heart was no different.

We have met Bridget in previous books but it was great to get to know her better and I loved being part of her life. I LOVE how Paige always manages to show us glimpses of past characters too. It helps us hold them in our hearts a little while longer .

I have never been to Cornwall but Paige writes about it so vividly that it is definitely added to my places to visit list. Same with Thailand, it sounds so perfect and dreamy.

This was a such a beautiful heart fluttering book that it was so easy to get engrossed and lose yourself in the story.

Fans of chick lit will adore this book.
