MR. MAYFAIR by Louise Bay 1st October 2019 (Indie Published)
It should be the most shocking news I’d ever gotten—My boyfriend is getting married.
Okay, technically he’s my ex-boyfriend. Two months ago he decided he wanted a break. I still thought he was my happily ever after.
On any other day, knowing he was gone for good would be the worst thing that could possibly happen.
But not today.
Because not only is my boyfriend getting married—his bride is my best friend.
And they’ve sent me an invitation.
There’s no way I’m going to attend. I don’t care if it’s in beautiful Scotland.
Nothing and no one could convince me.
Not even when a deliciously handsome stranger tells me he needs to go as my plus one.
Not even when he shoots me a wickedly, sexy smile.
But then he offers me the opportunity of a lifetime—a dream come true. How can I say no?
But I have one condition. He has to be my new boyfriend. I mean, my pretend new boyfriend.
I’m about to find out that faking it can be a whole lot of fun.
A stand-alone, contemporary romance.
MR. MAYFAIR is the newest release from one of our favourite authors here at The P Turners, the fabulous Louise Bay.
And boy what a read this novel is, you have everything you could want and some things you didn’t know you needed. Louise Bay is an author who knows how to create the best characters, leading ladies who you’d love to be friends with, the kind of women who build up other women.
Then we have Mr Mayfair himself, a fine specimen of man, who has all the qualities we’ve come to love from our leading men. Tall, handsome, cocky in just the right amount and leaving us truly smitten. The chemistry between Beck and Stella is off the charts hot, leaving the reader begging for more. We’re on a journey of self discovery with these characters, strapped in and ready for the ride. We want to know everything, to experience it all and the dual perspective of the novel allows us just that.
I could not stop reading, eager to lose myself in this wonderful world, where two beautiful souls come together and whisk you away. Louise Bay, thank you. For creating such amazing characters, for bringing them and their story into the world and allowing your readers to share in the love of them. Because it is clear from the beginning that here we have an author who truly loves, cares and treasures her characters.
Mr Mayfair is a true diamond in the rough.

In addition to being an author, Lee Savino is a mom and a chocoholic. She’s written a bunch of books, all smexy romance. Smexy = smart + sexy.
Angel is a self-described bibliophile with a “kinky” bent who is happily married, old enough to know better but still too young to care, and a big fan of happily-ever-afters, strong heroes and heroines, and sizzling chemistry.
“You must keep it inside. You must never let it out. It must never gain control. Let it be who you are and you will lose everything. Do I make myself clear?” “Yes, Sir.”
Control It’s a way of life for Max McQueen. It doesn’t come easy, but he thought he had it mastered. Until now Now nothing works It’s slipping away He must find a way to get it back Or he risks losing everything. It’s just a word. But it’s the thing he needs most of all. It’s what holds him together. Or is it what holds him back?
As part of the P Turners reading challenge we all have a list of books that have been on our shelves, unread, for too long. So we’re taking part in a Beat The Backlist and The C Word by Kerry Heavens was my first port of call.
I’ve been a huge fan of Kerry Heavens since I picked up a copy of Spencer last year and after meeting this incredible author a couple of times, I was eager to read this short novel. The C Word isn’t anything I was expecting, intrigued by the idea of complete control and the enigmatic lead character, our hero, who strives for a iron hold on his control, I devoured this novel.
Kerry Heavens knows how to write, to create beautiful men who test the limits of what is a hero. Here is an author who knows what kind of characters her readers want, to the point where we don’t even know we want them. The book is a short read, a delightful insight into this mysterious world.
I was left completely intrigued by the characters in this novel, eager to read more of their story, to delve deeper into this world set apart from ours. I am hoping that in the future Kerry Heavens gives us more of this story, more of these characters.
A very enjoyable read, keeping us intrigued and very happy.

GENTLEMAN SINNER by Jodi Ellen Malpas Published: February 5th 2019, Forever Books
An all-the-feels novel of fierce love overcoming a dark past from the author of the #1 New York Times bestselling THIS MAN series.
Izzy White knows of the darkness in this world. After all, she escaped it long ago. Determined not to let her past beat her, Izzy has a secure, stable life with a job she loves in nursing. But one act of kindness will completely upend everything she’s so carefully built-putting her right back in the crosshairs of danger she’s been so desperate to avoid.
When Theo Kane shows up like a knight in shining armor, Izzy can’t help thinking she’s been saved from one threat and exposed to another. His imposing physique, the harsh lines of his face, and the wariness of everyone who comes close are just a few clues to Theo Kane’s notorious reputation. The man is positively terrifying. But with Izzy, he’s tender and a complete gentleman, and her fascination with the mysterious beast of a man becomes too powerful for her to walk away.
As Theo’s demons come to light, running becomes even more impossible. And yet staying together could doom them both.
Where do we start with this novel, the latest treasure from one of my all time favourite authors Jodi Ellen Malpas.
Let me start by saying that I am utterly and completely in love with this story, with these characters and I did not want it to end. Theo Kane and Izzy White are every bit the couple we expect from JEM, beautiful, intriguing, sexy as hell and utterly swoon worthy. Here is an author who knows her audience, she gives the reader exactly what they want and so much more.
Theo Kane isn’t like other JEM alpha’s, he is bigger, meaner and yet even more desirable. Posing a threat to those around him, all except Izzy White. Here is a woman who will not bow down to a man, she stands her ground and will fight for those she loves. Their relationship isn’t without complications, as to be expected with any JEM novel but there is a raw beauty to their relationship that cannot be denied. The chemistry between them is palpable, emitting from every page, forcing us to read until we get to the very end.
There is something about Theo Kane that hits you, the reader, so far to the core that you want to be Izzy White, maybe not the horrid past she has had the power to overcome but the gentleness and caring nature she shares with Theo. This is a story that struck me to the core, in a way that does not happen often for this cynical reader. I can read some love stories and be utterly unmoved, but JEM has a way of writing that never fails to touch the reader.
I finished the book in a matter of days, a feat for me when 2019 has been completely kicking my ass so far. But this novel was the perfect escapism, letting me leave behind the stress of work and just enjoy reading, enjoy the characters, the talent of the author and forget about everything else.
I was so eager to read this new novel that I ordered it in both paperback and e-book version, the paperback will go nicely on my book shelf, right next to the other JEM treasures housed there. As for the e-book, this is safely on my Mum’s Kindle. Already she is reading and falling in love with Theo and Izzy, enjoying the new adventures into the wonderful world created by JEM. I cannot wait for her to read it all, to fall for these characters on a level she hasn’t before.
If anyone asks for a book recommendation this year, this novel will definitely be the one I talk about. Already I’ve got my colleague intrigued and my fellow P Turners. No one should pass up the chance to pick up a novel by the amazing Jodi Ellen Malpas, because I can promise you this, every reader needs a little JEM in their life.

After the brutal kidnapping of her brother, Tessa Roberts, a human born with the ability to read other human minds, plunges herself into the dark and mysterious world of the Breed, hell bent on finding him. What she encounters however, is far more than she bargained for.
Vampires and werewolves are one race known as the Breed, and are locked in a centuries old war against vicious human Hunters. With the help of Casstiel, the fierce leader of the Breed’s defense team who carries a fiery passion for her, can she find her brother before the war erupts on their doorstep? Or will lies and betrayals end the new life she’s forged for herself, along with the lives of everyone she loves?
When *S* asked me if I’d read the novel THE BREED: CASSTIEL’S VOW and explained to me that this was a vampire story, I instantly said yes. Vampires are my passion, I love nothing more than reading a good vampire story, throw in a few other supernatural beings and I am one happy camper. I’ve not heard of The Breed before, so came to this story completely blind.
Let me just say I was not disappointed; The Breed is something different. Cleverly thought out and well executed, this is a story of a world where vampires, werewolves and humans try to co-exist, throw in the possibility of some steamy scenes between handsome men and women, you’ve got a recipe for success.
I was intrigued by the idea that vampires and werewolves can not only co-exist with humans but also thrive, that species who are normally pitted against one another can actually work together, in relative peace. The writer has a created a world that I instantly fell in love with, sexy, strong vampires and werewolves running around saving the day. Throw in a few humans to keep everyone accounted for and you have a story that not only draws you but gets you siding with the supernatural creatures rather than our fellow humans.
Casstiel is our leading man, every bit as wise, handsome, strong and devilish as we’ve come to expect from this genre of novels. I loved his character, I loved the way he instantly became our hero. The developing love story between him and Tessa was just another tick in my favour. Tessa is a leading lady who comes into her own. This is a story about the characters journey’s in a world surrounded by chaos.
Overall I thoroughly enjoyed reading this novel, I was rooting for every character we met along the way and could not stop reading. I have high expectations for any novel that covers vampires, werewolves and mortals alike and it is safe to say I was very happy. Here is a novel that instead of being afraid to make their characters scary, violent, romantic and swoon worthy, they threw it all into the mix. A very happy reader indeed.
I cannot wait to read more of this story, to see what happens to not only Casstiel and Tessa but the other characters created in the world of The Breed. I know where I’ll be escaping to for the next novel.
Spending a month filming a reality TV show with your ex is no picnic.
Especially when you’ve signed a contract stating that the two of you will not, under any circumstances, have romantic relations while filming.
Leanne Simmons and Callum Davidson never had an easy relationship. From enemies to lovers and back to enemies, they’ve been on again/off again for years. Things come to a head when Callum gets into an altercation with a rival for Leanne’s affections. Their management decide enough is enough and give them both an ultimatum: sign the contract or leave the show.
Unwilling to give up their livelihoods, Callum and Leanne sign on the dotted line. However, like always, they can’t resist making a bet. Callum thinks it’s only a matter of time before they break the agreement, while Leanne is determined to see it through.
Can she resist him for an entire month without losing her sanity? And what if this is the one bet that finally breaks them both?
Off the Air is a contemporary romance and Book One in L.H. Cosway’s brand new “Running on Air” Series. Each book focuses on a different couple and can be read as a standalone.
Being asked to read OFF THE AIR, the new L H Cosway novel and review it was a dream come true.
I’ve been a massive fan of Cosway since reading KILLER QUEEN last year and couldn’t wait to read her latest adventures. And what a rollercoaster this is, the story of Leanne and Callum, two beautiful souls on a journey of self discovery and at time self destruction. Here is a love story that is cemented in a world we can believe we could orbit. Cosway has once again created a set of characters so intriguing that you never want the novel to end. Not only are we enamoured with Leanne and Cal, with the turbulent and beautiful relationship between them but also with their parkour family.
A bunch of unlikely friends, joined together in their love of free running to become a family that we fall head over heels in love with. Every character has a depth to them that let’s you know Cosway means business. Here is an author who knows her story, sets the tone perfectly and makes you fall in love with every turn of the page. I wanted to read this novel from the offset but I became compelled to read as soon as I was introduced to the beauties Leanne and Cal.
This is a story that lives on once the last page has been turned. When the kindle has died and the tears have been shed. Nothing prepares you for how easily you’ll fall for these characters, but then why would you want to be prepared? All the best rides are ones into the unknown. Every novel I’ve read by L H Cosway has only made me love this author more. Her story telling is fascinating, no two novels the same. The characters she creates are beautiful both in appearance and in soul. Sure nothing is plain sailing but we love the stories all the more for it.
Another one to add the bookshelves, one of those rare reads that pull you out of reality and into the fictional world. I need this in paperback and I most certainly will be reading more of L H Cosway’s work. Just try to stop me!
Scarlett is always the sensible one: The sober driver. The planner. The one holding your hair back while you’re worshiping the porcelain gods.
Week-after-week, she visits Jock Row with her friends — the university’s hottest party scene and breeding ground for student athletes. And if keeping her friends out of trouble, and guys out of their pants, was a sport, she’d be the star athlete.
Being a well known jock-blocker gets her noticed for all the wrong reasons; just like that, she’s banned from Jock Row. NO GUY WANTS A GIRL AROUND WHO KEEPS THEIR JOCK FRIENDS FROM GETTING LAID.
“Rowdy” Wade is the hot shot short-stop for the university’s baseball team — and the unlucky bastard who drew the short straw: keep little Miss Goody Two-Shoes out of the Baseball House.
But week-after-week Scarlett returns, determined to get inside.
JOCK ROW is a refreshing, snug and electrifying contemporary sports romance that gives you ALL the feels. A considerate story of two people striking up a relationship after a not-so-great introduction, without all the bullshit and drama that you come to read in many romance tomes.
The growing romance between Rowdy and Scarlett is HOT and makes for exciting reading, with ‘will they/won’t they’ moments aplenty. When the two finally admit their feelings, it’s enough to make your heart burst!
If you’re looking for an alpha-hole lead – you won’t find that here! Rowdy is one of the few book-blokes you root for!
“Let’s eat before we leave. I’m sure there’s quite the spread downstairs.”
“Rich people breakfast?” I ask.
She furrows a brow for a few seconds. “Yes. I suppose so.” Rolling away, she swings her legs around and stands up, stretching like a cat.
“Do you eat rich people breakfast every morning?” My curiosity has been piqued.
After a long yawn, she cocks her head to the side, lips slightly twisted. “Shredded Wheat with cut-up banana and almond milk. Is that a rich person’s breakfast?”
I sit up, doing a bit of my own stretching, loving the way her gaze roams along my bare chest, her lips parting ever so slightly. “No. I think that’s a solid middle-class breakfast.”
“Middle. That’s average. Average is good, right?”
“There’s nothing average about you, Henna.” I stand, following her into the bedroom.
“I’m going to shower quickly, and by quickly I mean I need an hour. Do you have an hour?”
“To shower with you?” I try to play it cool, like I’m serious.
I’m a little serious.
The color leaves her face. “Oh, um …” She twists her fingers together, drawing her shoulders inward.
A little kidding.
Henna’s posture relaxes as her cheeks pink up again. “We could.” Her gaze darts around the room before landing on mine for two seconds only to wander around the room again.
“My clothes are at my hotel. I’ll shower there. I need to get going.”
A slow sigh deflates her chest as she tries on a smile that misses the confident mark by a few centimeters. “Okay.”
“But thanks for the offer.” I wink.
More color paints her cheeks, and it looks stunning on her. “I kinda sorta thought we’d have sex last night, but we didn’t, and that’s fine, but now I don’t know what comes next.”
Does that make me the world’s biggest idiot for not taking what she was planning on offering? Or does that make me a gentleman? I’ve already fucked her a hundred different ways in my head, so I’m going to shy away from the gentleman label.
“How about you put my number in your phone and I’ll call you later today? That feels like a good next, don’t you think?”
Henna nods and turns, walking toward the bedroom door. Digging through her purse, she retrieves her phone. When she pulls it out, a string of three condoms comes out with it. “Oh jeez.” Quickly snatching them off the floor, she shoves them back into her purse.
I don’t respond because I’m not sure what the correct response should be.
“I was conceived at Coachella.” She hands me her phone with the contact screen open, ready for my information.
Taking her phone, I give her an expectant look, but she withholds all elaboration.
“And by conceived, you mean physical conception, not merely an idea kind of conception?” I hand her phone back and give her mine.
“In the shadows behind a stage. I know more details than most people should actually know about the moment they were conceived.” She lifts a shoulder in a small shrug. “But Juni is my best friend. She’s the absolute coolest mom ever, and the story of how she met my dad is my favorite story ever.”
I nod as she keeps her chin tipped toward the screen to my phone. “Why is that?” I take my phone back when she holds it out to me.
“Yin Yang. Opposites. Laws of the universe.” She wears a satisfied smile. “My parents were temporary. I was permanent.” Holding out her arms, she inspects her henna tattoos as if seeing them for the first time. “My mom had henna tattoos on her body when she met my dad. Henna grows in intensity over a few days before fading to nothing. It’s magical and beautiful and then it’s gone. My parents say that about their love for each other. It grew quickly into something deep and intense, but over time it faded. Their love—like most everything in life—was temporary.”
Her empty stare shifts to meet my gaze and she nods. “Don’t sweat it. Everything is temporary. But today…” she walks into my chest, and my arms wrap around her as she looks up at me “…we should be at our brightest, our most intense.”
Jewel is a free-spirited romance junkie with a quirky sense of humor.
With 10 years of flossing lectures under her belt, she took early retirement from her dental hygiene career to stay home with her three awesome boys and manage the family business.
After her best friend of nearly 30 years suggested a few books from the Contemporary Romance genre, Jewel was hooked. Devouring two and three books a week but still craving more, she decided to practice sustainable reading, AKA writing.
When she’s not donning her cape and saving the planet one tree at a time, she enjoys yoga with friends, good food with family, rock climbing with her kids, watching How I Met Your Mother reruns, and of course…heart-wrenching, tear-jerking, panty-scorching novels.
The moment she met Callen Hayes, eleven-year-old Jessica Creswell knew he was a broken prince. Her prince. They became each other’s refuge, a safe and magical place far from their troubled lives. Until the day Callen kissed her—Jessica’s first real, dreamy kiss—and then disappeared from her life without a word.
Years later, everyone knows who Callen Hayes is. Famous composer. Infamous bad boy. What no one knows is that Callen’s music is now locked deep inside, trapped behind his own inner demons. It’s only when he withdraws to France to drink his way through the darkness that Callen stumbles into the one person who makes the music return. Jessica. His Jessie. And she still tastes of fresh, sweet innocence . . . even as she sets his blood on fire.
But they don’t belong in each other’s worlds anymore. There are too many mistakes. Too many secrets. Too many lies. All they have is that instinctive longing, that need—and something that looks dangerously like love.
I love a book that really gets you hooked and you can’t turn the pages fast enough. That was most definitely the case with More Than Words by Mia Sheridan.
I am a huge fan of Mia’s work and none of her books ever disappoint despite mostly having a similar premise. Usually second chance romances with male leads that are deeply troubled the characters are so well written that you find yourself falling in love with each and every one. Callen Hayes was no exception as he tries to forget his past with girls and booze. When he runs into Jess, a familiar figure from his childhood, she manages to push past the wall Callen has erected around himself and integrate herself into his heart. Jess is also a very likeable character although a little sensitive, she has a strong personality and I couldn’t help but like her.
As well as our hero and heroine Mia writes the best best friends as we discover when we meet Nick. The one person that has stood beside Callen throughout everything he is attempting to deal with. I feel like we don’t see enough of Nick and would love to discover more about him and how he has ended up where he is. Maybe Mia could use him as a main character in another book, I certainly feel he is as loveable as Callen.
I found this story very easy to read and discovered myself engrossed in how Callen and Jess find their way back to each other without even realising it. I couldn’t stop turning the pages. I was also eager to find out more about Adelaide’s story, a love story within a love story, and liked how Mia integrated in this into the main story.
Set in France, Mia writes about the country very beautiful and descriptively. I certainly pictured each place very well and felt like I was there in the midst of it all. Which was great as I have never been to France but finished the story wishing I could be there.
Although the ending was very predictable I still found myself finishing with a big smile and a feeling of being very satisfied. Mia certainly re enforced why I am a huge fan and I am looking forward to discovering more of her books.

Colleen Hoover delivers a tour de force novel about a troubled marriage and the one old forgotten promise that might be able to save it.
Quinn and Graham’s perfect love is threatened by their imperfect marriage. The memories, mistakes, and secrets that they have built up over the years are now tearing them apart. The one thing that could save them might also be the very thing that pushes their marriage beyond the point of repair.
All Your Perfects is a profound novel about a damaged couple whose potential future hinges on promises made in the past. This is a heartbreaking page-turner that asks: Can a resounding love with a perfect beginning survive a lifetime between two imperfect people?
I almost could have written this review without even reading the book. Colleen Hoover is my favourite author and can do absolutely no wrong with whatever she releases.
The thing that surprises me with Colleen is that her books are never the same. I mean of course there is always a love story, who am I kidding – not just any love story but the most EPIC love story ever written with quotes that send shivers down your spine and goosebumps on your arms, but the story behind the love story is always based around something different.
All Your Perfects is just another example of this. Based around fertility it tells the story of Quinn and Graham, of how they met and how their relationship is now struggling as Quinn tries to deal with not being able to have the one thing she wants more than anything.
I don’t know how much research Colleen needs to do before she writes a story but she always seems to know so much about her subject which really adds to the emotional aspect of the book. In fact this had me in tears which never never happens with a book. It was written so well that I felt Quinn’s heartbreak even though it’s nothing something that has personally affected me.
Graham is of course the most adorable of book boyfriends. His unfaltering love for Quinn, even when he does something so hurtful, is the most amazing kind of love. The way he is determined to fight for what is left of their relationship is heart warming.
I love how it is told from both the present day and also from the year they met. It really added an element understanding how they fell in love and how their relationship grew to how they are now. It explains why Graham insists on fighting the way he does.
As with all of Colleen’s books I flew through this one, just found myself desperate to know what was going to happen. It is of course well written and some of the quotes are just amazing. It’s one of those books that stays with you long after you have finished.
I love Colleen and I am already excited to see what she does next because I just know it is going to be awesome!
