#BlogTour – #WillToLive by Rachel Amphlett @RachelAmphlett (April 4th, 2017) Hosted by; @emmamitchellfpr

I would of course, as every #BlogTour like to thank the team at Emma @ Emma The Little Bookworm for gifting me an early copy of WILL TO LIVE.  I am forever grateful and and promise that the review below is 100% honest and of my own views.

To kick off, we have the “blurb” for the book;

Reputation is everything

When a packed commuter train runs over a body on a stretch of track known to locals as ‘Suicide Mile’, it soon transpires that the man was a victim of a calculated murder.

As the investigation evolves and a pattern of murders is uncovered, Detective Sergeant Kay Hunter realises the railway’s recent reputation may be the work of a brutal serial killer.

With a backlog of cold cases to investigate and attempting to uncover who is behind a professional vendetta against her, Kay must keep one step ahead of both the killer and her own adversaries.

When a second murder takes place within a week of the first, she realises the killer’s timetable has changed, and she’s running out of time to stop him…

Will to Live is the second book in a new crime thriller series featuring Kay Hunter – a detective with a hidden past and an uncertain future…

So, you want to know what I think?

Part of the blurb states ‘If you like Angela Marsons, Peter James and Robert Bryndza, discover the latest addition to Rachel Amphlett’s new series today’ and I cannot agree more! This is my first time reading a novel by Amphlett and I was not disappointed!

WILL TO LIVE is the second book in the series featuring DS Kay Hunter following SCARED TO DEATH. I seem to have this knack of torturing myself and reading a great book, knowing that there is a back story I am yet to discover! WILL TO LIVE can certainly be enjoyed as a standalone novel – however to get the full effect, it is always advisable to start at the beginning….

What I enjoyed most about this book is the pace. Short chapters made for a quick read, but not a disappointing read. WILL TO LIVE gave me that same adrenaline I get when I read the Helen Grace series by M.J.Arlidge. The short chapters mean you don’t have too long to dwell on any particular point and you are racing to get to the bottom of what’s happened!

I am certainly looking forward to reading what happens next! Sometimes I feel that all I do is wait for sequels (which in this case isn’t a bad thing as it gives me time to catch up with SCARED TO DEATH)….. The struggle is definitely real!
